BE YOU – A poem for students

I am fair, nice and short

I am perfect until I was shot

from the beauty rays of others eyes

my self esteem ironically was high

but comparison almost caused me my life

I forgot my purpose and lied

I lied so much I lost my true self

I lied even harder, I shuck and died

Awake from COMA, thank you lord

I hugged my MAMA, and felt the love

I remembered all I ever wanted was to be me, to be better and inspire the world.

Many of you have goals and that is why you have come to Edge Hill, to be better.

However,  distractions are real. Embrace who you are as you explore the world, do not be forced or pressurised, rather surround yourself with positive like people that shares similar interests as you. (Try out societies).

THIS POEM SIMPLY SAYS YOU’RE PERFECT JUST THE WAY YOU ARE. DON’T FALL FOR PEER PRESSURE. BE YOU AND BE BETTER.
